About Pam

creative health curator

My work is guided by a simple question:

How can we encourage the conditions for meaningful encounters that change the way we perceive and relate to each other and the spaces we inhabit?

Working across artistic practice, healthcare, curation and research, I investigate how creativity becomes a way of being through noticing, attuning and sensing. It is a call to presence that leads to a better understanding of self, leading to a positive impact on health.

Curare Studio has emerged from this ongoing inquiry.

I believe meaningful change cannot be imposed. It emerges through the careful design of conditions that invite engagement , envelopment and encounter. Creative practice becomes the medium through which these conditions are explored.

I develop research-informed programmes, therapeutic environments and participatory initiatives that respond to the needs of specific people, places and organisations.

Rather than applying a fixed methodology, each project is shaped through collaboration, context and inquiry, recognising that meaningful change emerges through relationships rather than prescription.

This practice continues to evolve through discussions, seminars and partnerships across healthcare, community, cultural and organisational settings.

my creative health practice

Drawing from dreams, lived experience and feminine archetypes, these works investigate cycles of emergence, renewal and becoming. Gold leaf, charcoal, earth and oil function not as symbols, but as material traces within an ongoing dialogue between body, memory and process.

During a period of profound change, walking became a daily practice. Through photography, drawing and journaling I began recording fragments of experience, thoughts and dreams. What began as a way of coping gradually became a way of paying attention. Walking, writing and image-making evolved into an ongoing practice of observation, and ultimately, of encounter.

paying attention

Through the gathering, alteration and reconfiguration of natural materials, the work investigates transformation, memory and the changing relationships between body, landscape, loss and time.

moving image

Moving image and sound become research tools through which questions surrounding perception, environment and care are explored. Developed across healthcare and cultural settings, these works investigate how sensory experience can influence the way we relate to nature as metaphor of the illness experience and how this encourages acceptance and surrender.

An audiovisual installation exploring experiences of embodiment, transition and care.

Sanctuary investigates how moving image and sound can create temporary spaces of containment within moments of illness, loss and personal transition.

Using the sea as a recurring metaphor, the work explores the relationship between body, landscape and perception through an immersive sensory environment. The aim was to trigger a feeling of being at home, where one is understood and sheltered.

Deep Shelter

A artistic research project exploring audiovisual language within therapeutic settings.

Developed through interdisciplinary collaboration, Deep Shelter investigates how audio-visuals can contribute to the experience of healthcare environments. Working across hospitals and cultural institutions, the project explores the relationship between sensory experience, artistic practice and the design of care. It served as an empathetic, creative and clinical response to personal and collective experiences of illness.

First presented at Spazju Kreattiv and supported by Arts Council Malta and TAKEOFF Business Incubation Centre.
